Cubs close out road set with Diamondbacks

(Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Cubs will try to wrap up a six-game road trip
with an even record when they close out their series Wednesday against the
Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
Chicago is 2-3 on the swing and evened the three-game series in Arizona with
Tuesday's 11-3 drubbing of the Diamondbacks behind Alfonso Soriano's three-run
homer and four RBI. Mike Fontenot had a two-run blast and Koyie Hill finished
3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI for the Cubs, who have won two of
three games since dropping four in a row. Chicago welcomed back outfielder
Milton Bradley after he went down earlier this month with a groin injury, and
he ended with a pair of hits.
Cubs starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano recorded the win despite yielding three
runs on eight hits in seven innings of work. He had a strong night at the
plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI.
Ryan Dempster takes the hill this afternoon for the Cubs and is coming off
back-to-back no-decisions against St. Louis. Dempster most recently pitched
six innings of three-run ball in a 4-3 loss at the Cardinals.
The right-hander, who is 1-0 with a 4.88 ERA in four starts this season, has
lasted at least six innings in every start this season and has yielded no less
than three runs over the past three. Dempster is only 1-4 with a 5.73 earned
run average in 14 career games (10 starts) against Arizona.
Arizona will wrap up a lengthy nine-game homestand Wednesday and had its two-
game winning streak stopped with last night's eight-run defeat. Josh Wilson,
Chris Young, and Felipe Lopez each had an RBI for the Diamondbacks, who failed
to build off Monday's 7-2 win in the series opener.
D'Backs starter Yusmeiro Petit suffered the loss after he was rocked for seven
runs on eight hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work. Arizona is 4-4 on its
current residency and will send Doug Davis to the hill on Wednesday. Davis is
1-3 with a 3.67 ERA in four starts this season.
Davis tossed eight shutout innings in a win over San Francisco on April 18,
then yielded five runs and nine hits over six innings in his team's loss to
the Giants on Friday. Davis, who is 0-3 at home this season, has faced the
Cubs 14 times in his career and is 7-6 with a 3.53 ERA over that span.
Chicago went 4-2 against Arizona last season, but had a 1-2 record in the
desert.
