Marlins add Johnson, reinstate Lindstrom off DL

Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Florida Marlins have adjusted their major-
league roster to add newly acquired first baseman Nick Johnson and reliever
Matt Lindstrom to the club.
Johnson was acquired on Friday from Washington for left-handed pitcher Aaron
Thompson while Lindstrom has been reinstated form the 15-day disabled list
after rehabbing a right elbow sprain in the minors.
The 30-year-old Johnson batted .295 with six home runs, 44 RBI and a .408
on-base percentage in 98 games this season with Washington.
Lindstrom missed over a month with elbow problems and had been serving as the
team's closer prior to being shelved on June 24. The 29-year-old is 2-1 with
a 6.52 earned run average and 14 saves in 32 games this season. He apparently
will ease back into his ninth-inning role over time. Leo Nunez and
occasionally Dan Meyer have been filling Lindstrom's role in the meantime.
In corresponding moves, Florida optioned outfielder Brett Carroll and
infielder Gaby Sanchez to Triple-A New Orleans. Carroll hit .250 with three
home runs and nine RBI in 67 games while Sanchez went 0-for-2 in only three
pinch-hit appearances.
