Stastny, Anderson shine in Avs' shutout of Panthers

Denver, CO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Paul Stastny scored twice in the second period
to support a 27-save performance by Craig Anderson, as the Colorado Avalanche
blanked the Florida Panthers, 3-0, at Pepsi Center.
Anderson recorded his seventh shutout of the season, tying him with New
Jersey's Martin Brodeur, Phoenix's Ilya Bryzgalov and his counterpart on
Thursday night, Florida's Tomas Vokoun, for the league lead.
Matt Hendricks had the other goal, and Chris Stewart collected two assists for
the Avalanche, who rebounded from Tuesday's 6-4 loss to Vancouver in which
they squandered a pair of three-goal leads.
Colorado moved to within three points of the idle Canucks for first place in
the Northwest Division.
Vokoun stopped 28 shots for the Panthers, who were denied a fourth straight
win.
Stastny opened the scoring five minutes into the middle stanza. Vokoun knocked
down Brett Clark's drive from the point, but Stastny managed to backhand the
rebound.
Colorado doubled the lead on the power play. Stewart held the puck near the
far post and sent a pass across the crease to Stastny, who lifted a shot over
the left pad of a sliding Vokoun with 4:39 remaining in the period.
Hendricks took advantage of a poor line change by the Panthers and lit the
lamp on a breakaway, sealing the victory with 3:35 left in regulation.
Game Notes
It was Anderson's 14th career shutout...Anderson, who started his 22nd
straight game, spent the previous three seasons with the Panthers...Florida
made its first trip to the Pepsi Center since February 6, 2007.
