Gelsenkirchen, Germany (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Gustavo Ramos scored his second goal
on the final play of the game, helping last-place Hertha Berlin earn a 2-2 tie
against first-place Bayer Leverkusen on Friday in the Bundesliga.
Hertha has just one win through 16 matches and sits 26 points behind Bayer but
Ramos fired his side into the lead early and, despite a red card to Berlin's
Gojko Kacar and goals by Toni Kroos and Burak Kaplan, he added the late goal.
Bayer extended its lead to four over Werder Bremen and Schalke, who clash over
the weekend, and five over Bayern Munich.
Ramos scored the opener in the eighth minute, converting a pass from Cicero to
the bottom-left corner.
Hertha looked to have extended its lead after the break, but Kacar's goal was
waved off.
Bayern Munich loanee Kroos continued his fine form for Leverkusen, scoring in
the 76th with a well-hit shot from the top of the area. Kroos chested the ball
to settle it, then turned and fired the ball from waist level.
Kacar was sent off minutes later when he tossed the ball into the ground after
being called for a foul, resulting in his second yellow and an ejection.
Leverkusen took advantage in the 90th when Kaplan fired a deflected shot into
the net for the go-ahead goal, but Ramos answered to deny Bayer its ninth win.
Off a corner kick in the last seconds, Raffael swung the ball in and Ramos got
above the defense to head in the winner.
Leverkusen remained unbeaten, but settled for its eighth draw.
Bremen puts its 23-match undefeated streak on the line Saturday when Schalke
visits, while Bayern will try to build on its huge Champions League victory at
Juventus when it visits Bochum.
Werder will be without striker Claudio Pizarro and midfielder Philip Bargfrede
this weekend, while Schalke will not have Marcelo Bordon and will move Heiko
Westermann from the left into his spot at center back.
Bayern defeated Juventus 4-1 on Tuesday in a must-win game in Turin to advance
to the Champions League knockout stage, and has won four straight without any
changes in the starting lineup.
Also Saturday, Hoffenheim hosts Eintracht, Freiburg hosts Koln, Nurnberg hosts
Hamburg and Monchengladbach hosts Hannover.
On Sunday, Stuttgart - which defeated Unirea 3-1 on Wednesday to advance in
the Champions League - will try to build on its European success when it heads
to Mainz, and Wolfsburg will try to bounce back from its Champions League exit
when it hosts Borussia Dortmund.
